A tragic incident took place on Wednesday in southern Amman, inside a home, sparking widespread public anger.

The spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate said in a statement that was received by “Ro’ya TV” that a report was received by the operations room of the South Amman Police Directorate regarding a distressing incident inside a house in southern the capital. A man in his twenties allegedly assaulted his mother inside the home using a blunt object (a stick) to the head before fleeing the scene.

He added that investigation and search teams immediately moved to the location, and were able to identify the suspect and arrest him within a short time. It was found that he suffers from a psychological medical condition, while investigations are still ongoing to determine all details and circumstances.

A state of fear and shock prevailed around the house, amid panic and commotion among residents who gathered at the scene, while tension gripped the area due to the severity of the incident.

Authorities confirmed that the situation was handled according to legal procedures, and investigations have begun to complete all aspects related to the case.
