“Al-Nashama Falcons” announce full alert… complete readiness for Syria matches as 2027 World Cup dream kicks off from Amman

The Jordanian national basketball team has raised its preparedness to the highest level, announcing the completion of both technical and physical readiness to face the upcoming Asian challenge against its Syrian counterpart, as part of the first qualifying window for the 2027 FIBA World Cup, scheduled to be held in Qatar.

The announcement comes just days before the opening whistle, sending reassuring signals to Jordanian fans eager to see the “Falcons” soar again on the international stage.

As part of the final preparations, the technical staff, led by seasoned head coach Rui Rana, finalized the primary squad that will carry the national flag in these two crucial encounters. The roster includes eighteen players, blending experience and youthful energy, led by veteran Ahmad Al-Dweiri and skillful playmaker Freedy Ibrahim, alongside prominent names such as Mohammad Shahir, Ahmad Hamarsha, and Amin Abu Hawas. The lineup also features tactically versatile options like Hashem Abbas, Malik Kanaan, and Youssef Abu Wazna.

Coach Rana emphasized the family-like spirit prevailing in the camp, describing the hard work over the past period as carried out “with one spirit and full commitment to the building process.” His statements reflect the strong cohesion among team members and reaffirm the team’s determination to present an image worthy of Jordanian basketball’s respected reputation both domestically and internationally in recent years.

Basketball fans are eagerly awaiting the fiery showdown, as the Jordanian team begins its journey by facing Syria at 7:30 PM on Thursday, the 27th of the month. The return match will follow soon after in the “Bilad Al-Sham” derby, on Sunday, the 30th of this month, in the capital Amman, at 6:00 PM.

Meanwhile, the Jordan Basketball Federation reaffirmed its full confidence in both the technical and administrative staff and the team’s star lineup, relying on their ability to overcome this first major hurdle successfully. The federation issued an open invitation to Jordanian fans to fill the stands, stressing that fan support will serve as the fuel igniting the “Al-Nashama Falcons” on their challenging path toward securing a spot in the 2027 World Cup.
