An Egyptian media channel responded to the controversy sparked by actress Dina El-Sherbiny in recent hours, after her lawyer submitted a complaint to the Supreme Council for Media Regulation over remarks made by program host Marwa Sabri, which were considered offensive and inciting, and targeted the actress during a talk-show episode.

In a statement issued by the channel, it emphasized that the opinions expressed in the controversial episode reflect the presenter’s views alone and do not represent the channel’s administration or editorial policy. The statement also affirmed the channel’s commitment to professional media standards and its refusal to tolerate any violations or insults directed at public figures.

Background of the complaint

According to the complaint submitted by El-Sherbiny’s lawyer, the episode included sarcastic comments, inappropriate insinuations, and accusations relating to the actress’s personal life—described in the complaint as defamation, slander, and indecent implications. The lawyer also noted that parts of the episode were widely circulated on social media, which amplified the spread of the offensive content.
