The fifth week of the 2025/2026 Union Shield football tournament concluded on Saturday evening, with all matches held at Prince Mohammed Stadium in Zarqa.

The round produced surprising and exciting results that shook up the top of the table, increasing the intensity in the tournament, which uses the international break to improve team readiness.

Al-Faisaly Leads Despite Setback, Triple Chase Behind

Despite losing to Al-Salt, Al-Faisaly topped the standings with 12 points.

The defeat against Al-Salt, who won 1-0 with a goal from Sheikhna Simiga, left Al-Faisaly in first place by just one point ahead of the chasing trio.

The battle for second place is fiercely contested, with three strong teams tied at 11 points: Al-Wehdat, Al-Hussein Irbid, and Al-Salt, setting the stage for decisive upcoming rounds.

Exciting Win for Al-Wehdat and Comeback for Al-Hussein

Other key results of the round:

• Al-Wehdat × Al-Baqa'a (3-1): Al-Wehdat secured a wide victory over Al-Baqa'a. Goals came from Abdullah Al-Munasra (own goal, 21’), Ahmed Sabra (47’), and Junior Ajayi (55’), while Al-Baqa'a’s lone goal was an own goal by Nour Al-Din Yassin (75’), marking a match with two own goals.

• Al-Hussein × Al-Jazeera (2-1): Al-Hussein Irbid staged a strong comeback after Al-Jazeera took the lead with Yassin Al-Bakhit (8’). Abdullah Al-Attar equalized (47’), and Youssef Abu Jalboush scored the winning goal (76’).

• Al-Ahli × Al-Ramtha (2-0): Al-Ahli won 2-0 with goals from Waildson Silva (30’) and Ahmed Abu Kabeer (90+3’), raising their total to 8 points.

• Shabab Al-Ordon × Al-Sarhan (2-1): Shabab Al-Ordon earned a crucial win with two goals by Malik Allan (12’, 47’), ending a streak of inconsistent results and moving up to 4 points.

Tournament Purpose and Standings After Week 5

The Union Shield is held as a single-phase league aiming to give the maximum number of players match experience, evaluate their level, and discover new talents from youth categories during international breaks. The team with the highest points at the end wins the title and qualifies for next season’s Super Cup.
