Over 170 inmates in the “Ferizli” area of northwestern Ankara were affected by a mass poisoning incident after having dinner inside the facility.
Local reports indicated that the prisoners showed symptoms of food poisoning, including nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and general weakness, occurring simultaneously.
In response to the emergency, the prison administration established a field hospital on-site in case additional cases emerged, while some inmates began recovering and returning to their cells.
Authorities have launched a comprehensive investigation to determine the cause of the incident, which local media described as “alarming.”
