Egyptian singer Mustafa Kamel, head of the Musicians’ Syndicate, sparked widespread debate with his comments on the initial court ruling sentencing Mohamed Ramadan to two years in prison, stating that "he currently has no choice but to support him, but for purely humanitarian reasons following the death of his father."

Some interpreted his stance as implicitly signaling reservations about granting Ramadan full union support.

During a phone interview on a media program, the syndicate head said: "I currently only have the duty to offer my condolences to Ramadan for the loss of his father, may God grant him paradise, and I cannot comment on his performance or behavior; this is a matter of bereavement, and the duty requires me to support him and stand by him in his trial."

He added: "What concerns the ruling against Ramadan is a legal matter that will be addressed at the appropriate time," emphasizing that "the syndicate deals with its members according to laws and regulations, but humanity comes first in situations like this."

He continued: "Now is not the right time to discuss the details of the ruling or the song; all that can be said at the moment is prayers for his father’s soul and patience for Mohamed Ramadan and his family."

Previously, Mohamed Ramadan responded to the ruling issued by the Dokki Misdemeanors Court in Giza, which sentenced him to two years in prison over his new song "Number One Ya Ansas," following a complaint from a lawyer accusing him of publishing the work on YouTube without obtaining the necessary permits.

The complainant noted in the investigation report that "the song contains phrases that incite violence and contradict social values," calling for legal action against the artist.

Ramadan’s media office released an official statement addressing recent coverage of the controversy.

The statement read: "The media office of Mohamed Ramadan has followed recent reports containing false and inaccurate information regarding the song (Number One Ya Ansas), and confirms that the artist obtained all official licenses and permits from the relevant authorities before releasing the work."
