The Iraqi art scene lost on Friday one of the pillars of drama, theater, and cinema, artist Eyad Al-Ta’i, who passed away after a long battle with illness, leaving behind an artistic legacy spanning decades of creativity and contribution.

The Iraqi Artists Syndicate issued an official statement expressing deep sorrow over Al-Ta’i’s passing, praising his distinguished career and his active role as a member of the syndicate and the National Acting Troupe within the Cinema and Theater Department. He also represented Iraq in numerous international festivals and events, proudly carrying the banner of Iraqi art on the global stage.

Meanwhile, Emirati artist Habib Gholoum mourned his late colleague on his Instagram account, offering heartfelt condolences to Al-Ta’i’s family and to the entire Iraqi artistic community.

Kidney Failure and Malignant Liver Tumor

In recent months, Eyad Al-Ta’i had suffered from kidney failure and a malignant liver tumor, which required him to travel to India for treatment. In his final days, he appeared exhausted and had lost significant weight before his passing.

Who Was Eyad Al-Ta’i?

Born in 1965, Al-Ta’i earned a Bachelor’s degree in Performing Arts and joined the Iraqi Theater Union. He also worked as a teacher at the Institute of Fine Arts, contributing to the training of new generations of artists.

Over a career spanning more than 25 years, he appeared in approximately 45 television series, in addition to numerous film and theater works, becoming one of the most prominent faces in Iraqi drama and leaving behind an artistic legacy that will remain alive in the audience’s memory.
