Palestinian journalist Maryam Abu Daqa was martyred in an Israeli strike targeting Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, leaving a profound human impact through her journalistic work and dedication to conveying the suffering of Palestinians to the world, alongside her role as a loving mother.

Before her passing, Abu Daqa left a moving message for her son, Ghaith, writing: "Ghaith, you are the heart and soul of your mother… I want you to pray for me, don’t cry for me so I can remain happy. I want you to make me proud, excel, rise to your potential, and become a capable businessman, my dear."

She continued with the heartache of a mother facing farewell: "Don’t forget me, Mom… I did everything to make you happy and comfortable. When you grow up, get married, and have a daughter, name her Maryam after me. You are my love, my heart, my support, and my soul. You are my son who makes me proud and always brings me joy. Ghaith, remember to pray—pray, then pray, then pray, Mom."

The same strike also claimed the lives of photographers Hussam Al-Masri, Mohammed Salameh, and Moaz Abu Taha, highlighting the dangers journalists face while reporting the realities of Palestinian life.

Maryam Abu Daqa’s passing leaves a powerful human message of courage and determination to convey the truth, reminding the world of the value of free journalism and humanitarian dedication, even in the darkest circumstances.
