Death of Iman Al-Ghouri at the age of 58 The funeral prayer will be held Tuesday after Asr at Al-Rawda Mosque in Aleppo

Death claimed Syrian actress Iman Al-Ghouri on Monday evening at the age of 58, after a decades-long artistic career during which she played prominent roles in Syrian drama and theater.

The Syrian Artists’ Syndicate announced her passing through its official Facebook page, mourning her with the words: “Our heartfelt condolences on the passing of our esteemed colleague, the distinguished artist Iman Al-Ghouri. To God we belong and to Him we shall return.”

Funeral and condolences The funeral prayer will be held Tuesday after Asr prayer at Al-Rawda Mosque in Aleppo, with burial to follow at the modern Islamic cemetery. The family will receive condolences for men on Tuesday and Wednesday between Maghrib and Isha prayers at Abi Hanifa Al-Nu‘man Mosque – Al-Za’eem – New Shahbaa – Al-Sindian Street. Condolences for women will be received online through social media platforms.

Memorable artistic milestones Al-Ghouri became widely known for her role as “Khairu” in the series Ahlam Abu Al-Hana, alongside legendary actors Duraid Lahham and Samia Al-Jazairi—a character that remains etched in the audience’s memory to this day. She also appeared in other notable works such as Shu Hakina, Khan Al-Harir, and Bab Al-Hadid.

Early beginnings and studies Her career began at the age of 14 when she performed in the play Do Not Fear the Edge of the Sword by playwright Farhan Bulbul. In 1993, she received a government scholarship to study acting in Moscow, Russia, where she earned a diploma from the State Institute of Cinematography before returning to Aleppo and joining the Artists’ Syndicate.

Retreat and return Al-Ghouri stepped away from the spotlight in 2001 to dedicate herself to family life after the birth of her only son, Ward. She later returned in 2012, appearing in the series The Roots Remain Green. She was also linked to a role in the series Rozana, but declined the offer due to dissatisfaction with the part.
