In a post that sparked widespread controversy, Egyptian writer Engy Alaa, the ex-wife of actor Youssef El Sherif, shared cryptic words on her Facebook account, referring to “not forgiving” the “theft of effort,” raising questions about the meaning behind her message.

Engy Alaa said she does not forgive those who “stole her time, effort, and years of work, and falsified the truth,” adding that she faced difficult situations with people who deceived her, made unfulfilled promises, and left her halfway. She also noted that she can forgive any harm except what directly or indirectly affects her daughter.

“I lost an illusion” She added that despite the psychological pressure she went through, she “lost an illusion and gained herself in the end,” emphasizing that she is still able to continue and smile. She concluded her statement with expressions of trust in God and acceptance of what happened.

The post sparked controversy on social media, with some believing it hinted at her past marriage, which led others, including actor Salah Abdullah, to question its meaning.

Later, Engy Alaa clarified what she had posted, confirming that what was circulated has nothing to do with her personal life or her relationship with her ex-husband, stressing that their relationship is based on mutual respect, and that the conflicts she referred to are related to work only, not personal life.
