Thousands of residents in the new Marka neighborhood, east of Amman, suffer from the lack of a sewage network, despite the area being regulated and other basic services being available.
The neighborhood, which is administratively affiliated with the Marka District, is served by electricity, water, and roads, but its residents have been forced to rely on cesspits for more than twenty years, burdening them with the cost of repeated weekly sewage treatment, amidst the absence of any radical solutions.
