Concerns continue to grow within artistic circles and among the public over the health condition of Egyptian singer Hany Shaker, following sudden developments that have once again placed him at the center of worry, despite earlier signs of improvement after a health crisis that lasted for weeks.
In recent hours, his condition reportedly deteriorated again, prompting his family to ask for prayers, alongside an official post on his social media accounts that included a supplication reading: “Lord, O Healer, O Restorer, grant Hany Shaker a complete recovery that leaves no illness behind, remove all pain from him, replace his sickness with health and well-being, and protect him with Your ever-watchful eye.”
The post received wide engagement from fans and colleagues in the music industry.
Messages of support poured in from several stars, with Angham commenting “Amen, Lord,” while poet Bahaa El-Din Mohamed wrote: “I seek refuge in God’s might and power from the evil of what he feels and fears.” Actress Randa El-Buhairi also prayed: “May God heal him. O Lord, heal Your servant with a cure that leaves no illness behind, O Lord of the worlds, amen.” Ahmed Gamal added: “Amen, may God restore you safely, our dear one.”
In an attempt to curb rumors, singer Nadia Mostafa, a member of the Musicians’ Syndicate board, stepped in to clarify the situation, confirming that inaccurate information had recently been circulating.
She quoted his wife, Nehal Tawfiq, via Facebook, saying: “Over the past few days, some inaccurate information has spread on social media about the health condition of the great artist and my dear brother Hany Shaker. Therefore, it is necessary to clarify the full truth as stated by my dear sister and his beloved wife, Mrs. Nehal Tawfiq.”
According to the clarification, the crisis began with severe bleeding caused by an old colon-related condition he had previously suffered from, which leads to recurring inflammation and bleeding.
Despite attempts to control the bleeding through blood transfusions and interventional radiology, his condition worsened the following day, when “his heart stopped for six minutes, and he was resuscitated quickly over three cycles, each lasting two minutes.”
This development led Dr. Abdulrahman Lotfy to decide on urgent surgery under complex circumstances, during which the medical team successfully stopped the bleeding completely.
After the procedure, Shaker was transferred to intensive care under sedation, before regaining consciousness and recognizing his family.
As recovery began, the artist experienced general weakness due to a prolonged 20-day stay in intensive care, prompting consideration of transferring him abroad for a specialized rehabilitation program, not merely to continue treatment as previously reported.
He did begin rehabilitation and initially showed noticeable improvement, but his condition relapsed again after developing respiratory failure, returning him to a critical stage under close medical observation, amid widespread prayers that he overcomes this ordeal and regains his health soon.
