The Roya Media Group and the Royal Film Commission of Jordan (RFC) have announced the positive impact achieved through the financial incentives program for film and television production provided by the Commission. This program includes a cash rebate system on eligible spending within the Kingdom, as part of the efforts by the government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to support and stimulate the audiovisual production sector.
Several Roya productions have benefited from the cash rebate system, receiving a 30% rebate on eligible costs within Jordan, including Shaker, Qabbaan Mousa, and Watan A Wa Tar. This support has contributed to enhancing production quality, increasing reliance on local talent, and stimulating supply chains and services linked to the media and production sector.
The incentive aims to establish Jordan as a key player and a strong competitor in local, regional, and global production markets, leveraging diverse filming locations, skilled workforce, and advanced infrastructure. The cash rebate ranges from 25% to 45%, based on a points system that evaluates the project’s scale, incorporation of Jordanian cultural content, and its artistic and economic value.
This support aligns with the national vision to position Jordan as a regional production hub, create direct and indirect job opportunities for Jordanian talents, encourage local spending, and support the sustainability of national companies, positively impacting the national economy in line with the objectives of the economic modernization vision for developing the creative industries and increasing their contribution to the GDP.
At the direct impact level, these productions provided employment for a total of 118 workers across the three main projects: Watan A Wa Tar employed 55 people plus 8 trainees, Qabbaan Mousa employed 30 people plus 3 trainees and 3 new faces, and Shaker employed 33 people while providing opportunities for 4 new faces. This reflects the vital role of the financial incentives program in supporting employment, empowering local talent, and providing real opportunities for emerging professionals in the sector.
Since 2017, 46 Jordanian, regional, and international projects have benefited from the incentives, including 13 Jordanian projects, of which 8 benefited after the introduction of the new incentives in May 2025, demonstrating the direct impact of the updated system in encouraging local production and increasing engagement with the program.
Both parties emphasized the importance of partnerships between national media institutions and supporting bodies as a key pillar in developing local content and enhancing its competitiveness regionally and internationally.
The CEO of Roya Media Group added: "The financial incentives program offered by the Royal Film Commission of Jordan is a true lever for the industry, contributing to added economic value by employing local talent and enhancing domestic spending."
Meanwhile, the Director General of the Royal Film Commission of Jordan, Muhannad Al-Bakri, said: "At the Commission, we believe that investing in local productions is a direct investment in Jordan’s creative economy. The cash rebate program’s impact is not limited to a single project; it benefits the entire production ecosystem of technicians, creators, and suppliers, helping to build a sustainable industry capable of competing regionally and globally while preserving and showcasing Jordanian cultural identity on screen."
