Early Thursday morning, a tragic accident occurred in Tartous, when a train collided with a civilian vehicle carrying workers while crossing the railway, resulting in the death of two people and injuries to 11 others with varying degrees of severity.

The Syrian Civil Defense announced via its official account on "X" that: "A horrific traffic accident occurred near the town of Al-Mantar in Tartous, resulting in the death of two young men and injuries to 11 others after the train struck the civilian vehicle."

Immediate Response

The directorate added that "Civil Defense teams responded immediately to the incident, heading to the site to remove the vehicle stuck on the tracks, secure the area, and transport the injured and the two deceased to hospitals for treatment and necessary examinations."

The General Directorate of Civil Defense renewed its call to citizens to strictly adhere to safety procedures and cross railways only at designated crossings, to prevent similar accidents and protect lives.
