A family outing turned into a tragedy at a farm in Erbil Governorate, Iraq, after a 5-year-old child lost his life by drowning in the farm’s swimming pool.

Local media, citing informed sources, reported that the family had visited the farm to spend some relaxing and recreational time, but the child was suddenly involved in a drowning accident in the pool, shocking his relatives.

Sources added that attempts to save the child and transport him to the hospital failed, as he died before reaching the emergency room, while security authorities have launched investigations to determine the circumstances and causes of the incident.

The outskirts of Erbil and its farms are considered among the region’s main tourist destinations, visited by locals and tourists alike for leisure, with cooler temperatures in winter and mild weather in summer.
