  • Unlicensed clinic performs dangerous surgery
  • Woman dies due to “medical” error

A woman in the Parabanki area of Uttar Pradesh, India, died after the owner of an unlicensed clinic and his nephew attempted to perform surgery on her based on an instructional YouTube video.

Police said the two men were running the clinic without any legal medical licenses.

According to the complaint, the husband accompanied his wife, Minisha Rawat, who was suffering from kidney stone-related issues, to the “Shree Damodar Usha Dhalaia” clinic in Kothi on December 5.

The clinic owner, Gyan Praka Mishra, claimed her pain was due to kidney stones and that she needed surgery, setting the cost of the procedure at 25,000 rupees (about 300 USD).

The husband paid 20,000 rupees (about 240 USD) before the procedure began.

According to the husband’s statement to police, Mishra started the operation after watching an instructional video on his phone.

During the surgery, he made a deep incision in the victim’s abdomen and damaged several blood vessels, leading to rapid deterioration of her health.

She died the following evening, on December 6.

His nephew, Vivek Kumar Mishra, participated in the procedure.

Police clarified that Vivek worked at a hospital and used his government position as a cover to assist the unlicensed clinic for years.

Authorities have since shut down the clinic, and a case has been filed against the two men on charges of causing death by negligence.
