  • Family accused of conspiring to kill daughter’s fiancé
  • They cited class differences

Jajanan Balaji Mamidwar was seen just seven months ago dancing joyfully with his daughter’s fiancé, Saksham Teet, during celebrations in Nanded, Maharashtra, India.

Jajanan, his sons Himesh and Sahil, and three others were arrested after exploiting a friendly demeanor to gain the victim’s trust before killing him, citing class differences as the motive.

The young woman, Anchal, said: “They were nice to him, ate with him, and talked to him. They convinced him that everything was fine. We never expected something like this to happen.”

One of the brothers, a minor, shot the victim and struck him with a slab.

The following day, Anchal held a symbolic ceremony around Teet’s body, placing a wreath and performing rituals in honor of the life they had hoped to build together.

She confirmed that her family had been threatening her fiancé for some time: “My father opposed our relationship because of class differences. My father and brothers would say: ‘We are a gang; how dare he talk to our daughter?’”

She alleged that two police officers incited her younger brother hours before the incident, directing him to file a false complaint against Teet.

She said, “The police told him: why not kill the man your sister is involved with?”

Anchal cut ties with her family and moved to live with Teet’s parents.

Both brothers, their father, and three others were arrested and charged with murder, rioting, unlawful assembly, and other crimes under Indian law.

Anchal’s allegations against the officers are under investigation.

After the incident, Anchal said: “This murder happened because of social class. People should not be killed because of class. I want justice, and I want my father and brothers to be hanged.”
