A prank turns into a tragedy in the United States. Several charges have been filed against one of the boys responsible for the teacher’s death.
Teacher Jason Hughes (40) died after a shocking incident outside his home following a nighttime prank carried out by a group of boys, in what turned from a simple “prank” into a tragedy, according to the New York Post.
According to the details, Hughes went outside at night to check the source of noise near his home, where he found a group of boys throwing toilet paper around the property. Among them was Jayden Wallace (18).
While Hughes attempted to confront the group, he stumbled and fell onto the road. In a tragic moment, he was run over by a truck driven by Wallace as he tried to leave the area quickly.
Some of those present rushed to provide first aid before Hughes was quickly transported to the Northeast Georgia Medical Center, but he later died from his injuries.
Involuntary manslaughter
Authorities filed several charges against Wallace, most notably first-degree involuntary manslaughter, reckless driving, criminal trespass, and littering on private property. The other teenagers involved also faced charges of criminal trespass and littering, and all of them are 18 years old.
Hughes is survived by his wife Laura, a mathematics teacher at the same school, and two children. The local community was overwhelmed with grief, and a memorial service was held at North Hall High School, attended by students and teachers to honor his memory and recall his educational legacy.
