“Al-Hussein’s Withdrawal Forces Rescheduling of Women’s Football Competitions”

Al-Ittihad Tops the Standings with 16 Points Al-Hussein's Withdrawal Grants Al-Orthodox and Al-Istiqlal Automatic Qualification to Round Two
The Jordan Football Association has decided to reschedule the second-leg matches of the 2025 Jordan Women’s Professional League and the Jordan Women’s Cup following the withdrawal of Al-Hussein from both competitions.
This decision aims to organize the remaining fixtures and ensure the continuity of the tournaments despite the reduced number of participating teams.
Impact on the Jordan Women’s Cup
In the Jordan Women’s Cup, Al-Hussein’s withdrawal automatically advanced Al-Orthodox and Al-Istiqlal to the second round.
The first and second places in the initial round will be determined in a match between these two teams in the upcoming fifth round.
The later stages of the cup will be played under a single-elimination format. If a match ends in a draw after regular time, the winner will be decided directly by penalty kicks, avoiding extra time.
In the previous round of the Professional League, Al-Ittihad maintained its lead with a convincing 5-0 victory over Al-Orthodox.
Other results from the round included:
- Neshami Al-Mustaqbal defeating Al-Istiqlal 2-0.
- A historic win for Amman FC, who beat Al-Hussein 35-0 in what became Al-Hussein’s final match before withdrawing.
With these results, Al-Ittihad leads the league standings with 16 points, followed by Amman FC with 13 points, Al-Orthodox with 8 points, and Al-Istiqlal and Neshami Al-Mustaqbal tied at 7 points each.
It is worth noting that the Jordan Women’s Professional League operates in three phases (home and away, followed by a golden stage), with the team finishing first in the final standings crowned as the champion.
