Grief swept across the Egyptian artistic community after the announcement of the deaths of the talented photographers Magid Hilal and Cyrille Salah. The duo fell from a crane while shooting for an advertising company, shortly after completing coverage of the Gouna Film Festival.
The incident shocked colleagues and friends in the artistic world, who described it as tragic and terrifying, calling for an urgent investigation to determine the circumstances and responsibilities surrounding the accident.
Director Amr Salama wrote on his personal page: “The death of the esteemed photographer Magid Hilal is a huge shock. May God grant patience to his family and loved ones. A full clarification of the incident is necessary—how were photographers asked to work on a crane without any protection?”

A friend of the victims explained that the photographers were tasked with shooting for a company and were instructed to climb the crane without any safety measures, resulting in their immediate deaths.
