Egyptian actor Ahmed El-Rafei sparked widespread controversy on social

media in recent hours after his name topped trending lists, following a formal police report filed by his wife stating that he had gone missing early in the morning and could not be reached by phone. Her growing concern led her to take legal action.

The news quickly spread across various social media platforms, prompting a flood of questions and speculation about the actor’s whereabouts. His name dominated search engines and user posts, as mystery clouded the situation.

"Phone battery died"

In the first official comment, Dr. Ashraf Zaki, head of the Actors’ Syndicate, reassured the public that Ahmed El-Rafei is safe and currently at home. He explained that the actor’s sudden absence was due to being busy filming a new project and that his phone battery had died, causing a communication breakdown with his wife, who was not accustomed to him being unreachable without prior notice.

Zaki emphasized that there was no cause for alarm and described the incident as a “simple misunderstanding,” confirming that the actor had not been harmed.

His Latest Work

Ahmed El-Rafei is currently starring in the film “Al-Hares” (The Guardian) alongside actor Hany Salama. The film is being shot in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, as well as in other locations.

In the film, El-Rafei plays the role of a blogger in a dramatic and suspenseful storyline, with filming scheduled to resume next month.

The cast includes Merihan Hussein, Mahmoud Yassin Jr., Heba Abdelaziz, Mohamed Mehran, and others. The film is written by Omar Abdel Halim and directed by Yasser Sami. “Al-Hares” marks a strong return for Hany Salama to the big screen after a 14-year absence since his last movie “Wahed Saheeh” in 2011.
