The suffering of residents of the eastern neighborhood of Zarqa is renewed every weekend due to the "Friday Market," which has become a source of annoyance and chaos due to the random spread of stalls on sidewalks and roads. Residents assert that the market disrupts their daily lives, preventing them from easily reaching or leaving their homes.
Citizens point out that the market not only causes traffic congestion but also produces large quantities of waste, causing unpleasant odors and the spread of insects. They assert that complaints and petitions filed over the past years have so far fallen on deaf ears. They added that "every weekend means a day of chaos and suffering, and no one is taking action to put an end to this situation."
Residents are demanding an alternative location that strikes a balance between the vendors" need for a suitable space and the residents" right to a clean and quiet environment. They point out that the lack of official regulation exacerbates the problem week after week, with no radical solutions yet in place.
