Zainab"s Fingers

- 1 cup coarse semolina- 1 cup fine semolina- 2 cups flour- 1 teaspoon ground mahaleb- 2 tablespoons ground anise- 2 tablespoons sugar- 1 teaspoon baking powder- 1/4 teaspoon salt- 1/2 cup oil (mixed ghee and vegetable oil)- 2 tablespoons rose water- 1 1/4 cups warm water

Syrup

- 3 cups sugar- 2 cups water- A squeeze of lemon
