The driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn An investigation has been launched into the circumstances of the painful accident

Three people, including a student, lost their lives, while 37 others sustained injuries of varying severity after a transport vehicle overturned on a mountainous road in the “Oulmes” area of Khemisset Province in Morocco, in a tragic accident that once again highlighted the suffering of residents in rural areas with unsafe means of transportation.

According to Moroccan media reports, the accident occurred in an area known for its dangerous curves and rugged terrain when the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn suddenly and plunge down a steep slope, in a scene that left passengers and their families shocked and grief-stricken.

Sources stated that the bus was carrying several passengers, including students from educational institutions in the area, who were either on their way to or returning from their daily commitments before the journey turned into a painful humanitarian tragedy.

Civil protection teams and members of the Royal Gendarmerie worked to transfer the injured to the regional hospital in Khemisset, where five critically injured cases received treatment, in addition to 32 people with minor injuries, amid intensive medical efforts to save critical cases and provide the necessary care.

Investigation into the accident

The concerned authorities opened an investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecution to determine the circumstances and details of the accident, especially amid suspicions of overloading and the use of a transport vehicle that was not adequately equipped to carry passengers, according to preliminary findings.
