In a shocking incident that shook Brazilian society, a wedding turned into a bloody tragedy after a bride was shot dead during her wedding celebration, in an incident that took place on the wedding night and sparked widespread outrage and condemnation locally.

According to Brazilian media, the victim, identified as Nazila Duyanass Nascimento (34), died only hours after the marriage ceremony, following a severe dispute with her husband Daniel Barbosa Marinho (55), a member of the municipal guard since 1998.

Civil police reported that the dispute escalated suddenly inside the venue, before the husband—who was carrying his service weapon—opened fire on his wife and immediately fled the scene.

Firing again

According to preliminary investigations, the first shots were not fatal, but the suspect later returned to the scene and fired again, leading to her death at the venue despite medical teams’ attempts to save her.

Reports also indicated that the victim was a mother of three children from a previous marriage, and that family members managed to remove the children from the scene before the tragedy escalated further.

After the incident, the suspect contacted the municipal guard himself to report what happened, before being arrested and placed in preventive detention.

During the search operations, authorities seized evidence from the crime scene, including bullet casings, ammunition, and the weapon used, according to the Brazilian newspaper “UOL”.

The municipal guard leadership in Campinas expressed deep sorrow over the incident, confirming full cooperation with judicial authorities and stressing its commitment to combating all forms of violence in society.
