X has launched a new “History”feature designed to make it easier for users to access everything they have saved or engaged with across the app in a single place.
The new feature, currently available to iOS users, was described by X product head Nikita Bier as a more organized way to track preferred content and revisit posts, videos, or articles users want to read or watch later without losing them inside the app.
With the update, the “Bookmarks” button in the app’s side menu has been replaced with a new “History” tab, which includes four main sections: Bookmarks, Likes, Videos, and Articles.
The system separates manually saved items—such as bookmarks and likes—from content that is automatically surfaced based on user activity, including videos and articles.
The company confirmed that this section remains private and visible only to the user, according to Bier’s announcement.
The change makes X feel closer to a full browsing experience, allowing users to return to previously viewed content even if they never saved it explicitly, while also unifying tools that were previously scattered across the app’s navigation and profile sections.
It is also expected to boost long-form content on the platform, as X continues to encourage writers and creators to publish extended articles instead of relying solely on short posts.
The update comes amid declining referral traffic from major platforms such as Facebook and Google to news websites, driven by algorithm changes and the growing use of AI tools. X sees this shift as an opportunity to strengthen on-platform publishing and increase discovery without users needing to leave the app.
