The boy suffered severe fatigue after ingesting the substance The incident coincided with the harvest season and grain storage in rural homes

Grief has enveloped the residents of Behna village in Egypt’s Monufia Governorate after the death of a young boy who accidentally ingested a toxic grain tablet while playing inside his family home, in a tragic incident that coincided with the wheat harvest season and grain storage in rural households.

According to Egyptian media, the boy suffered severe fatigue after swallowing the toxic substance, before his condition deteriorated and he died due to acute poisoning.

The body was transferred to Al-Qasr Hospital in Shibin El Kom for autopsy and completion of legal procedures.

The incident sparked widespread sadness among villagers and renewed warnings about the dangers of storing grain tablets inside homes, especially during harvest seasons in rural areas, where such substances are used to protect stored crops from insects and pests.

Agricultural researchers confirm that aluminum phosphide, known as grain tablets, is highly toxic, and exposure or ingestion can cause severe health complications that may lead to death within a short time.

Medical reports also indicate that there is no direct or effective antidote for this type of poisoning, increasing its danger and prompting repeated calls for stricter control over its distribution and limiting its use to safe, supervised storage areas.
