- Expansion of interaction tools between users on the web version
- Updated platform interface with improved navigation across sections
Meta has announced a new update to its “Threads” platform, introducing direct messaging to the web version of the service, in a move that follows a similar rollout previously available on mobile devices.
Connor Hayes, a company executive, revealed a refreshed design for the Threads web interface, featuring major changes to the sidebar along with faster switching between different feed categories.
The redesign also includes the addition of a direct messages inbox (DMs), a feature that has been available on the mobile app for over a year, while web users had been without it for an extended period.
Hayes noted that the update will be rolled out gradually over the coming weeks, without specifying an exact launch date.
The move comes as Meta continues to focus on strengthening its mobile versions, which record the highest usage levels, while gradually bringing more features to the web in an effort to close the gap between both platforms.
