- New mid-tier plan aimed at expanding high-intensity tool usage options
- Higher programming capacity designed to support developers handling large projects
OpenAI announced the launch of a new subscription tier priced at $100 per month, targeting advanced users in a move aimed at strengthening heavy usage of its tools, particularly in the field of programming.
The new plan sits between the $20 “Plus” subscription and the $200 “Pro” tier, while the company continues to offer a free option and lower-cost plans, with varying usage limits and access levels.
According to the company, the new tier is primarily focused on supporting intensive daily use of its coding tool “Codex,” offering roughly five times more capacity compared to the Plus plan.
OpenAI said the goal is to better serve developers working on large-scale or parallel projects, especially during high-demand workflows that require greater flexibility and higher usage thresholds.
The company also noted that the higher “Pro” tier continues to offer the largest usage limits—up to 20 times more than Plus—while keeping the same core features, with differences mainly in usage capacity.
In a competitive context, OpenAI indirectly referenced Anthropic, which already offers a similar $100 subscription, saying its new plan delivers stronger value in coding capability for the price.
The company added that Codex is experiencing rapid growth, now used by more than 3 million people weekly worldwide, with usage increasing by over 70% month-on-month, reflecting strong expansion across the developer community.
