The son of actor Abdel Rahman Abu Zahra revealed concerning developments in his father’s health condition after he was transferred to intensive care and placed on a ventilator inside a private hospital in Cairo. This came amid an urgent appeal issued by his son Ahmed Abu Zahra, who said the family was prevented from being by his side during his critical moments and was not informed about his placement on a ventilator.

Ahmed Abu Zahra launched an appeal via his Facebook account, expressing shock at the hospital administration. He wrote: “The father was placed on a ventilator at dawn today according to the doctors, and we were not informed of this procedure. We were surprised by it when we went to visit in the afternoon. We are being prevented—me and my siblings—from being by his side in his final moments. Is this reasonable? Why this strictness from the hospital administration? Is it because the hospital is free that we are being treated this way?”

Although there was a temporary improvement, his condition worsened again due to severe respiratory failure, low oxygen levels in the blood, and repeated loss of consciousness, which required transfer to intensive care and placement on respiratory support devices.

Medical examinations revealed an abnormal mass in the lung, raising suspicions of a tumor, although the diagnosis has not yet been confirmed. A bronchoscopy was planned to determine the nature of the condition, but the deterioration prevented its execution at this time.
