  • Researcher Alessandro Paluzzi reveals a new leak related to Instagram
  • The leak details an automatic download feature for "Reels" that allows offline viewing

A new leak has revealed that Instagram, owned by Meta, is working on a feature that will let users watch "Reels" content without an internet connection after the app automatically downloads the videos.

Paluzzi, an app researcher familiar with the upcoming developments, explained on his X account that the new feature will give users full control over how automatic downloads work and allow them to play "Reels" offline.

The leak also indicates that the feature’s settings will include a section called "Offline Downloads Management," where users can enable automatic downloading of Reels, with the option to download only over Wi-Fi.

The page will display the download status, showing which videos have been fully downloaded and which are still in progress.

Users will be able to set the number of Reels to download automatically—10, 30, or 50 videos—so they can watch them anytime without needing an internet connection.

Downloaded videos can be viewed on the device, although it’s not yet clear whether users will be able to manage them, such as deleting some of the videos.

Additionally, the feature will offer a new view mode allowing users to switch between "Feed" and "Downloads," enhancing the flexible viewing experience of Reels even during connectivity interruptions.

This feature is part of Instagram’s ongoing efforts to boost user engagement and make content accessible at any time, and it is expected to roll out to the app soon.
