The Pearland Police Department in Texas has concluded the search for a seven-year-old girl, finding her dead in a neighborhood pond.

The child, Skyla Hobson, who is autistic and non-verbal, left her home Wednesday morning carrying an iPad around 9:10 a.m., last seen wearing a multicolored dress.

Authorities launched an extensive search involving police K9 units, drones, and a Houston police helicopter. An Amber Alert was issued due to her health condition and inability to communicate.

Police confirmed no signs of abduction. The K9s traced her path to a nearby pond, consistent with signals from her tablet.

Around 2:45 p.m., Houston’s dive team recovered her from the water, where she was pronounced dead on site.

Pearland Police thanked law enforcement, rescue teams, and local volunteers who participated in the search.
