Media reports indicate that WhatsApp is working on an optional paid version of its app called “WhatsApp Plus,” which would give users extra features for a monthly fee, available for both Android and iOS devices.

The official launch date hasn’t been announced yet.

“WhatsApp Plus” will allow users to extensively customize the app interface, including changing the app icon and element colors, with 14 new icons and multiple color options for personalization.

Subscribers will also be able to pin up to 20 chats instead of the current limit of three, giving easier access to important conversations.

Exclusive ringtones will be provided for subscribers, each with a unique style to help distinguish incoming calls based on mood or user preference.

Additional features are expected in the future, such as exclusive stickers unavailable to free users and more interactive message reactions, making chats more dynamic for subscribers while keeping core functions free for everyone else.

WhatsApp emphasized that subscribing to “WhatsApp Plus” is completely optional and will not restrict users from continuing to use the app for free, including messaging, voice and video calls, media sharing, group chats, and privacy and security features.

The company has not yet announced pricing or an official release date, and features may be adjusted before wide availability.
