Egyptian singer Hany Shaker is currently in intensive care at a private Giza hospital after undergoing a complex colon operation, following severe bleeding in recent days.
A family source told an Arab newspaper that Shaker developed colon growths that required urgent surgery.
However, irregular heartbeats delayed the procedure, worsening his condition and causing heavy bleeding.
The source added that doctors stabilized his heartbeat and performed surgery to remove part of the colon, but he was moved to intensive care to monitor unstable vital signs, including kidney function, which responded slowly.
Shaker has not yet regained full consciousness. Artists Mervat Amin and Elham Shahin, along with TV host Boussy Shalaby, visited him, but medical instructions prevented them from entering the ICU.
Shaker had previously undergone spinal surgery in January due to a severe slipped disc, requiring hospitalization and recovery at home. After resuming his artistic activities and performing in the UAE, he was recently struck by a more serious health crisis.
