Egyptian actress Mai Omar was struck by grief over the passing of her father, as director Mohamed Sami, her husband, announced the death of her father Omar Badr Abu Hani on Wednesday via a heartfelt post on his Facebook account.

Sami wrote: "Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return. My father-in-law Omar Badr Abu Hani has passed away. We ask you for Al-Fatiha and prayers. I swear to God he was a respectful, polite, and kind-hearted man; I have only seen goodness and love from him."

So far, the date for the funeral or condolence ceremonies has not been announced.

The news of his passing coincided with dramatic events in the series "El Set Mona Lisa", in which Mai Omar plays the heroine "Mona Lisa". Episode seven featured a tense confrontation when her father "Uncle Barakat," played by Mohamed Mahmoud, tried to reclaim his daughter's rights, confronting her ex-husband and his mother.

However, "Hassan" surprised him and forcibly took "Mona Lisa" back, then assaulted her father, pushing him into the street. This led to a heart attack that claimed his life in a shocking and emotional scene, sparking reactions from viewers filled with sorrow for the scene and sympathy for "Mona Lisa."
