The bus slipped into the deep pit Five people trapped at the bottom

The Al-Zawiya Al-Hamra area in Cairo lived hours of terror and panic, after a "microbus" carrying passengers fell into a deep pit reaching about 6 meters, amid a security alert and urgent rescue operations to save those trapped.

In detail, the Cairo Security Directorate’s emergency operations room received a report stating that the bus had fallen into a pit designated for construction works on Manshiyet Al-Gamal Street, under the Al-Zawiya Bridge, causing chaos and panic among local residents.

Immediately, rescue teams, supported by ambulances and heavy cranes, rushed to the scene, taking precise measures to prevent any additional soil collapses.

Preliminary inspections revealed that the bus had slipped into the pit, resulting in five people being trapped at the bottom, where rescue workers exerted tremendous effort using ropes and hydraulic ladders to extract them safely.

Security forces also established a cordon around the site to facilitate rescue operations, and the teams succeeded in retrieving all the trapped individuals and transferring them to nearby hospitals for treatment, while the concerned authorities launched an urgent investigation to determine the causes of the accident and assess compliance with safety procedures at the worksite.
