Rana Tarek: I bear all living expenses alone Rana Tarek: I was subjected to a violent physical assault
The disputes between artist Mahmoud Hegazy and his wife, Rana Tarek, continue to dominate social media platforms following escalating legal conflicts and mutual accusations, which include several cases, most notably the wife accusing him of physical assault and objecting to their son traveling abroad.
Rana Tarek revealed new details about the crisis in a statement, responding to what she described as her husband’s "repeated accusations" on his official accounts, particularly regarding her attempts to travel with their son and preventing his parents from seeing him.
She explained that for the past five months, she has been living separately with her son in Egypt, bearing alone all expenses for living, education, and healthcare, emphasizing that her husband does not pay attention to the child nor contribute financially.
The wife disclosed shocking details about her husband’s attempts to obtain a financial sum in exchange for lifting the travel ban on their child, stating: "If he truly wanted to lift the ban, we could have reached an agreement when he requested money several months ago." She added that his attempts continued after she requested a divorce due to his repeated relationships, during which he demanded amounts in dollars to finalize the divorce, pushing her to continue legal proceedings.
Rana confirmed that she was subjected to a violent physical assault after confronting him about his relationships, noting a court session scheduled for February 21 to follow up on her case. She also stopped his acquisition of citizenship after discovering these relationships, despite previously helping him obtain a U.S. visa valid for five years.
She mentioned that she had been in the United States, where her husband blocked her on social media and did not communicate with their son, even though she issued a five-year entry visa for him; he did not travel to see his child. Upon returning to Egypt, she discovered relationships with other women and his direct presence on TikTok at late hours, noting that she tried to fix the situation hoping he would change.
Rana denied preventing her husband’s family from seeing their child, confirming that she only required visits to take place in public spaces after the assault incident, for her safety and the child’s. She added that Mahmoud Hegazy acknowledged his own temper, and his family complained about his behavior.
She announced that she had obtained a retroactive child support ruling for her son for a full year, confirming that this ruling proves her husband had not financially supported the child since birth, and that the assault case existed before any other reports, with her husband released on bail pending the case.
Rana accused her husband’s lawyer of attempting to pressure journalists to refrain from publishing news of the case, asserting that she has documents proving her statements’ accuracy, stressing that she is "entitled and does not need to pressure anyone."
Her statement came after Mahmoud Hegazy posted on his official account, affirming his insistence on preventing his son from traveling and expressing confidence in the Egyptian judiciary to restore his legal rights, noting that the truth will appear soon, that his parents have not seen their grandson since birth, and that campaigns to tarnish his reputation continue.
