In the city of Khan Younis, hands are not raised only to ask for help, but also rise during boxing training sessions, in a scene that captures the meaning of challenge and determination in the heart of a tragedy whose chapters have not yet ended.

Inside narrow passages separating the tents, dozens of young girls and teenagers train in basic movements, as if every punch in the air were an attempt to break fear, and every step forward a silent declaration that the war has failed to steal their dreams. Girls who have known little besides displacement and anxiety face a harsh reality through sport, transforming pain into a source of resistance.

After a long interruption imposed by bombardment and displacement, the women’s boxing team has returned to training once again, in a step that reflects a collective desire to regain a sense of normal life, even if only between tents. Voices have returned, shy laughter has returned, and so has the determination to make sport a window of hope in a place lacking the most basic elements of stability.

Coach Osama Ayoub leads the team with strong belief in the power of sport to heal souls before bodies, stressing that these sessions are no longer merely physical training, but have become a space of psychological support for the girls and an outlet to escape scenes of destruction and daily anxiety. Here, the players learn how to face defeat and how to rise again after every fall.
