During the downtime, many users struggled to load conversations, receive responses, or access OpenAI platform services, causing particular concern for professionals and developers who depend on the AI for daily tasks.

According to reports, OpenAI quickly acknowledged the issue on its official status page, citing "elevated error rates" affecting ChatGPT users.

Engineers deployed urgent fixes, and by 5:14 p.m. ET, the company confirmed that the main issue had been resolved.

Most users regained access shortly afterward, although minor disruptions persisted briefly in some regions during the recovery process.

ChatGPT outages have become a recurring issue on the platform. The AI experienced a major outage on January 23, 2025, when users reported being unable to access it, followed by another interruption the next month affecting certain commands.
