The village of Mit Asim in the Benha center of Qalyubia Governorate witnessed a tragic incident after finding five siblings deceased inside their home according to local media outlets The preliminary investigations carried out by the security authorities indicated that the cause of death was due to gas leakage from the water heater inside the house which led to the suffocation of the children who range in age between 8 and 16 years and were living alone because of their parents’ travel for work abroad in a painful incident that shocked the Egyptians

Similar cases The gas leakage had claimed the lives of entire families including cases of collective suffocation of family members during their sleep including the death of a newlywed couple on their wedding night in Minya and other families in Shubra Al-Khaimah and Boulaq Al-Dakrour

Following the incident the public prosecution began investigating and decided to appoint the forensic medicine authority to determine the exact cause of death and ensure that no criminal suspicion exists while continuing to examine the incident site to uncover the technical reasons behind the gas leakage in an attempt to prevent the recurrence of such painful tragedies
