Helmy Abdel-Baqi Refuses to Officially Receive the Decision Helmy Abdel-Baqi Expresses His Strong Displeasure

Artist Helmy Abdel-Baqi, First Deputy of the Syndicate of Musical Professions, was referred to the Disciplinary Council, a move that sparked controversy within the syndicate.

This comes after Abdel-Baqi objected to the procedures and refused to officially receive the decision, affirming his full legal rights while present at the syndicate’s headquarters in Cairo.

Helmy Abdel-Baqi Expresses His Displeasure

Abdel-Baqi expressed his strong displeasure at the decision of the Syndicate Council, headed by artist Mostafa Kamel, after he was prevented from attending the council meeting that discussed his referral for investigation and suspension from work.

During a live broadcast on his official Facebook account, Abdel-Baqi said: "I had a decision to be referred to the Disciplinary Council and suspended from work, and I am present inside the syndicate, yet they prevented me from attending the council, and refused to hand me the decision. This is a very strange stubbornness, and this is my legal right."

Referral of Abdel-Baqi and Ahmed Abu Al-Majd to the Disciplinary Council

The Syndicate of Musical Professions had recently referred both Helmy Abdel-Baqi, First Deputy, and Ahmed Abu Al-Majd, General Secretary, to the Disciplinary Council, following internal crises within the syndicate over the past period.

"The Investigation Was Not Opened From the Start"

Abdel-Baqi had completely denied what Tarek Mortada, the official spokesperson for the syndicate, stated regarding his attendance at an investigation session or refusing to respond to allegations. He confirmed that no investigation had been opened and no allegations were attributed to him, describing the statements as "incorrect and completely unfounded," and that mentioning "allegations" carries a criminal implication that does not apply to his case.

Legal Procedures and Right to Appeal

The First Deputy of the Syndicate explained that he filed a legal appeal against the decision to refer him for investigation, emphasizing his full legal rights guaranteed by the constitution and law.

He added that the legal advisor in charge of the syndicate’s investigation decided to temporarily halt the referral procedures until the appeal is decided, according to the established legal procedures.

Helmy Abdel-Baqi: I Will Not Give Up My Right

Abdel-Baqi noted that he continues to perform his duties inside the syndicate normally, like any member, confirming that he filed a lawsuit to annul the investigation procedures he was referred under, stressing that he "will not give up his right" regarding any incorrect statements affecting his reputation or position within the syndicate.
