The Giza Misdemeanors Court in Egypt decided on Sunday to renew the detention of the ex-husband of popular singer Reham Mohsen for 15 days pending investigations into the case of leaking private videos, in an incident that sparked wide controversy on social media platforms, under close supervision by the Public Prosecution according to the Anti-Cybercrime Law.

Continuation of legal proceedings against the accused The decision to renew the detention came after the judge reviewed the latest developments in the investigations and heard the Public Prosecution's arguments, which confirmed the seriousness of the charges related to publishing private content through electronic means, constituting a violation of privacy and misuse of technology.

Arrest of Reham Mohsen’s ex-husband in New Cairo Security agencies at the Giza Security Directorate, in coordination with Cairo detectives, managed to arrest the accused in the Fifth Settlement area, implementing a warrant before presenting him to the Public Prosecution for investigations.

Investigative authorities had previously detained Reham Mohsen’s ex-husband for four days pending the same case, after he was accused of leaking private video clips from their marriage, which circulated widely.

Charges of electronic blackmail against Reham Mohsen Reham Mohsen accused her ex-husband of publishing the videos without her consent, causing her psychological and moral harm, and damaging her reputation, prompting her to file several official complaints against him. She also reported that he used international numbers via WhatsApp to send the videos and threatened to release more in exchange for money, in an incident legally classified as electronic blackmail.

Investigative authorities continue to examine the circulated video clips and verify their circumstances to determine the presence of all elements of the crimes stipulated in the Anti-Cybercrime Law, in preparation for a final decision regarding the accused, while the public closely follows the developments of the case, which has sparked wide controversy in the artistic and media circles.
