A 21-year-old suffered severe injuries after falling from a fourth-floor hotel balcony in Bengaluru while allegedly attempting to climb down a drainpipe to escape a late-night police inspection.

According to a complaint filed by her father, the individual was at a hotel in the Brookefield area with seven friends on Sunday, booking three rooms and partying from around 1 a.m. until nearly 5 a.m., local media reported.

Local residents, disturbed by the noise and shouting, reportedly called the 112 helpline, prompting police to visit the hotel.

Reports indicate that officers reprimanded the group for disturbing neighbors.

After the police visit, the person reportedly panicked and tried to descend from the balcony using a drainpipe, lost balance, and fell, sustaining serious injuries.

Friends rushed them to a hospital, where they remain in critical condition.

Based on the father’s complaint, police registered a case against the hotel owner for negligence, noting that safety measures on the balcony were inadequate.

The complaint also requests a detailed investigation involving the person’s friends, hotel staff, and the police officers on duty at the time.
