The collapse of two residential buildings in the Al-Masira neighborhood of the Zwagha district in a city in northeastern Morocco resulted in 9 deaths and 15 injuries as an initial toll, according to authorities in the country.
Official sources stated that among the victims were four children, while 12 other people were injured, including two pregnant women in stable condition, and three others were reported in critical condition.
All the injured were quickly transported to a hospital to receive urgent medical care, according to Moroccan media reports.
Child Rescued from the Rubble
Civil protection teams were able to rescue a child alive from under the rubble, and efforts continue to search for potential survivors amid the debris.
Immediately after the incident, panic spread among local residents, fearing further collapses, while authorities cordoned off the area around the two buildings and began evacuating nearby residents as a precautionary measure to ensure their safety.
