  • The mother and grandmother killed their 14-year-old son
  • Then ended their own lives

Police in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, reported a tragic incident on Monday, where a woman killed her 14-year-old son with the help of her mother before ending their own lives.

The victims were identified as Maunish (14), his mother Sudha (38), and his grandmother Muddamma (68).

Preliminary investigations indicate that the mother and grandmother took this extreme step due to mounting debts.

Bengaluru Deputy Commissioner of Police, Sarah Fatima, visited the scene to check for any farewell note or other evidence.

Fatima told the media that the police received a report via the emergency number 112 about the deaths, and upon arriving at the site, they found three bodies.

She explained that the exact cause will be known after the post-mortem examination.

Investigations revealed that Sudha and Muddamma had run a small restaurant selling biryani, later shifted to selling chips and milk, and eventually engaged in household work.

The investigation also showed that Sudha had separated from her husband several years ago and moved in with her son and her mother, Muddamma.

The family had consumed poison, and neighbors noticed them unconscious and immediately alerted the police.
