• WhatsApp brings back “About” feature for quick status updates
• New addition allows control over duration and who can see it

WhatsApp has announced the revival of an old feature from the early days of the app, the “About” feature, which is similar to a status update.

The feature is designed to quickly inform your contacts about what you are doing, such as tasks that might keep you busy and make you slower to respond to messages.

The “About” message appears on your profile and at the top of one-on-one chats.

By default, the message disappears after 24 hours, but users can adjust the duration to make it vanish sooner or stay longer through the “Set About” option in WhatsApp settings.

Users can also control who can see their “About” message, either limiting it to their contacts or allowing anyone to view it from their profile.

This addition comes as part of an update inspired by the Notes feature on Instagram and Facebook.

WhatsApp is expected to roll out the “About” feature to all mobile users soon.
