WhatsApp Enhances the Calling Experience

WhatsApp has announced a new feature that allows users to schedule voice and video calls in advance within the app, making it easier to coordinate calls, whether group or individual, and providing users with increased flexibility and organization.
The call scheduling option can be accessed through the Calls tab in the app, where users can tap the “+” button and select “Schedule a Call.” After setting the time, it becomes possible to invite a single contact or an entire group to join. Once the schedule is set, WhatsApp sends a notification to all invitees with a link to the call, ensuring everyone is ready to join at the appointed time. The app also offers an option to add the appointment directly to the user’s calendar, helping participants stay reminded and manage their time more efficiently.
Interactive Updates In addition to the scheduling feature, WhatsApp has added new interactive tools aimed at making group calls more seamless. The most notable is the Raise Hand feature, allowing participants to express their desire to speak without interrupting others. Users can also send reactions and expressions during the call instantly without affecting the flow of the conversation. The app also allows users to see when any participant joins via the shared link.
Practical Uses The call scheduling feature proves practical in various situations, helping individuals arrange calls with friends and family according to their schedules, and providing workplaces with an effective way to organize team meetings without long coordination through messages. This feature also ensures invitees are reminded of important appointments in advance to avoid delays.
Despite these enhancements, WhatsApp confirmed that all calls—including scheduled ones—remain fully end-to-end encrypted, maintaining the highest levels of privacy and security.
