Neighbor abducts victim’s 7-year-old son Medical reports confirm permanent optic nerve damage for the victim

In a shocking incident that shook the streets of Cairo, a 40-year-old woman was brutally attacked by her neighbors, who poured a corrosive substance on her face, causing her to lose her eyesight, before physically assaulting her, according to official medical reports.

According to Egyptian media, prior disputes had existed between the victim and her neighbor living on the floor below. Matters escalated after the neighbor abducted the victim’s 7-year-old son and kept him inside her home, but the child’s screams caught his mother’s attention, prompting her immediate intervention to rescue him.

Conflict reignites

The victim added that the dispute flared up again later, despite attempts by some building residents to intervene and calm the situation, which proved ineffective. In a dangerous escalation, the neighbor broke into the victim’s apartment accompanied by several family members, poured the corrosive substance on her face, and her accomplices assaulted her, leaving her permanently disabled and completely blind.

Medical reports from a government hospital confirmed that the woman suffered irreversible optic nerve damage, which cannot be treated, as a result of the corrosive attack.

Social media users expressed outrage over the incident, demanding that the perpetrators be held accountable for depriving the victim of her eyesight due to their actions.
