Unprecedented archaeological discovery in Egypt

- A new passage inside the Great Pyramid of Khufu opens new horizons for the study of ancient construction
- Modern robotic technologies enhance access to difficult archaeological areas
Egyptologist Zahi Hawass revealed that Egypt will announce next year a major archaeological discovery inside the Great Pyramid of Khufu, noting that this discovery will add a new chapter to the history of the pharaohs
He explained during a panel discussion that the discovery consists of a new passage measuring 30 meters in length, detected using advanced equipment, pointing out that it will help deepen understanding of the methods used to build the pyramids and the techniques of the ancient Egyptians
Hawass presented a scientific explanation covering the engineering and construction stages of the pyramids, debunking unscientific claims linking their construction to supernatural forces or extraterrestrial beings
The scholar also highlighted the use of modern technologies employing robots to inspect and clean the pyramid passages, which allowed teams to reach areas previously inaccessible, confirming that this technology has brought a qualitative leap in the study of archaeological sites
During the talk, he described the Grand Egyptian Museum as "one of the greatest museums in the world," noting that it houses more than 5,000 artifacts from King Tutankhamun’s treasures displayed in full for the first time
Hawass also referred to efforts to recover Egyptian artifacts from museums around the world, emphasizing that this issue goes beyond a national matter to become a historical and cultural right that must be restored
