The draw for the 3rd West Asia U-14 Girls Championship, held today, Thursday, November 6, placed the national U-14 women’s team in Group B alongside Lebanon and Bahrain

The Saudi city of Jeddah will host this promising tournament from December 5 to 13, featuring six teams from the region

The draw marks the official start of final preparations for the participating teams, all aiming to develop young players and prepare them for larger international competitions in the future

This tournament represents an ideal opportunity to nurture female talent in the region and increase competitive football exposure among the teams

Group details and competition format

The draw distributed the six participating teams—Jordan, Iraq, Bahrain, Lebanon, Palestine, and Saudi Arabia—into two balanced groups as follows

Group A: Saudi Arabia (host), Palestine, and Iraq Group B: Jordan, Lebanon, and Bahrain

Regarding the competition format, the first round will be played in a single round-robin system, meaning each team will play two matches against the other teams in its group

At the end of the first round, the top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals (the “golden square”), where the qualified teams will face off in a knockout format to determine the two finalists and, ultimately, the champion of the 3rd edition of the tournament

“Little Nashmiat” match schedule and title defense challenge

The national U-14 women’s team, holding the title from the first edition of the championship, begins its campaign with a tough challenge in Group B

The first-round schedule for the “Little Nashmiat” is as follows

  • Match 1: Jordan vs Bahrain, Sunday, December 7
  • Match 2: Jordan vs Lebanon, Tuesday, December 9

The Jordanian team, led by its technical staff, is considered a strong contender for the title, especially as the championship record shows its victory in the inaugural edition held in 2022 in Beirut, Lebanon. The technical staff aims to leverage previous title experience while building a new generation capable of repeating the achievement on Saudi soil

West Asian federations place great importance on this age group, believing it forms the foundation for the future national women’s teams. The tournament is expected to witness intense competition and high excitement, particularly with the participation of the host Saudi team, which seeks to capitalize on home advantage and crowd support to deliver an impressive performance

The West Asian Football Federation is expected to announce additional details soon regarding the full match schedule, timings, and stadiums hosting these promising fixtures
